The most romantic views and places of Rome

Rome is one of the most romantic cities in the world and is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway. There are many places that make the heart beat faster, capable of giving unforgettable emotions.

The capital is romantic by nature but there are some places to be discovered strictly as a couple where saying “I love you” has a completely different flavor.

Villa Borghese

One of the most romantic places in Rome is undoubtedly the park of Villa Borghese, whose gardens offer a quiet and reserved space. Its boulevards have witnessed countless promises of love. After a walk hand in hand among works of art and romantic views, we recommend you take a boat trip on the lake, a real corner of paradise with exotic plants, ducks, birds and ducks. Also in the park, another great classic for couples is the famous Terrazza del Pincio, from which you can enjoy a truly breathtaking view.

The Orange Garden

On the Aventine hill, in the heart of the Ripa district, there is one of the favorite places for lovers. We are talking about the Orange Garden, also known as Parco Savello. It is the perfect place for a walk but also to indulge in pampering and romantic phrases. In its magical atmosphere you can admire one of the most evocative views of Rome, which ranges from the bend of the Tiber to the unmistakable silhouette of the dome of St. Peter. The best time to reach it is sunset, when the sky is colored with a thousand shades of red and orange.

Ponte Sisto

Another iconic place for all lovers is Ponte Sisto. Built in the 15th century to connect the Vatican and Trastevere with the rest of the city, it is today one of the most characteristic bridges in Rome. It consists of four arches covered in travertine and is decorated with five papal coats of arms in marble. It has also been the backdrop for several films, including Ferzan Özpetek’s “The Front Window” and Sam Mendes’ “Specter”. On one side you can admire the bend of the Tiber, which declines to the right creating incredible plays of light, while on the other you can enjoy the view of the Tiberina island.

The Fountain of Lovers

Everyone knows the Trevi Fountain but few know that on the outside of the famous fountain there is a rectangular basin with two small spouts: the Fountain of Lovers. Listed among the ornamental fountains, it owes its name to an ancient legend, according to which couples who drink its water will remain in love and faithful forever. This was a ritual that, in the past, took place when engaged couples were forced to leave home for military service. The evening before departure, the two lovers drank the water from the fountain from a glass never used before which they then shattered as a sign of good wishes and fidelity.
